The innagural Sunset Sessions Rock! event at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA, was a music-filled weekend that reminded participants of the breadth and width of the genre. SUNSET SESSIONS
on Grammy 365 written by Daniel Mendoza
The 14th Annual Sunset Sessions event at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA, was a refreshing reminder (for all of us somewhat cynical music industry folks) that great singer/songwriter-driven music is alive and well.
This unique event offers new and established artists the opportunity to perform for select AAA radio programmers from around the country, as well as some high-profile music supervisors, and provides them intimate exposure to key people in the industry. The AAA radio format has a more diverse and eclectic playlist; with musical selections on the fringe of mainstream pop and rock.

Sunset Sessions Series – Landon Pigg
Hosted by Michael Halloran. Produced by Myles Crawley. Edited by Jason Lehr.
Every once in a while we meet someone who makes an enormous positive impression on us. Landon Pigg is that type of person. When we arrived at Sunset Sessions we had no idea who he even was. But meeting him, and watching him effortlessly sing and play, changed that. Landon was polite, intelligent and well spoken, with no trace of an overblown ego.
He was wearing a brown jacket when we met him. While he was waiting to walk on to our set, someone said to him “Nice jacket. I’ll give you ten bucks for it” to which Landon replied “Sure, I only paid eight for it”. Landon’s Dad is a session singer and music was prevalent in his house. Landon Pigg is the product of that positive reinforcement. He sat down to speak with Michael Halloran and then played “A Ghost” for us. His new album, “The Boy Who Never“, is out. Go and get it. You won’t regret it. You can buy it here.

We met up with them at Michele Clark’s Sunset Sessions which, this year, was held at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in Rancho Bernardo, California. Sunset Sessions is a three day event that brings together music supervisors for television and film, music publishing library supervisors and Triple A format radio programmers.

10 Questions with … Michele Clark
February 8, 2010
BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Michele Clark Promotion really started in 1990. My friend Glenn Alexander had a great jazz record that was two years old and had never been worked. I loved it and thought it should be on the radio. I asked Jerry Lembo (then at Columbia) to teach me how to get a record on the radio and on the chart. Being so young and optimistic, it never occurred to me that I could actually fail, so in only eight weeks Glenn’s album debuted on R&R’s NAC chart … and so another indie was born!

Musical tastemakers to convene at RB Inn
Michele Clark’s Sunset Sessions, now in its 13th year, will be held Feb. 18-20 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn.
The convention is an industry-only event meant for radio programmers and music supervisors — who choose music for shows and movies and commercials — to hear new talent and established acts.
A total of 37 musicians — including Melissa Etheridge and Jason Mraz — will perform short sets (20 to 30 minutes) during the course of the event.
The focus is on music that fits the Adult Album Alternative format, such as local station KPRI 102.1, which is an event sponsor and will be broadcasting portions of the event to the public.
